I’m Mike Cleary with a postcard from Sonoma Country. One of our more unusual and rewarding spa experiences was at Osmosis in Freestone. This spa is located in a scenic valley close to Occidental, Bodega Bay and Sebastopol. The star of the show is their enzyme bath. Cedar, rice bran and plant enzymes produce heat naturally, by fermentation. Hey, fermentation works for bread, cheese and wine. Why not for us? Its therapeutic benefits are many especially combined with a massage. A few hours spent at this 20 year-old Japanese-style day spa will add to any Sonoma Country getaway. In fact, there are some eighteen wonderful places to stay all within five to fifteen minutes of Osmosis.

I’m Mike Cleary with a postcard from Sonoma Country. Listen to this postcard

Ever wonder where the term spa comes from. It’s an acronym for Solus Per Aqua which is Latin for healing through water. Well, what better place to take the waters than the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa with its natural thermal springs and beautiful setting. Speaking of spas and beautiful settings, you’ll find spas to fit every budget.

Many hotels and resorts have spas on the property and there are a number of excellent day spas. Break your routine this hectic Holiday period and treat yourself to any of a number of rejuvenating treatments. Spas today offer a rich variety of activities ranging from enzyme baths to yoga. Go ahead and pamper yourself in Sonoma Country.

This is Mike Cleary with a postcard from Sonoma Country. There are more than 40 spas in Sonoma Country, confirming it as one of America’s premier spa destinations. All of them are known and respected for their unique settings and individual treatments.

For instance, the Kenwood Inn and Spa is the first Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa in the United States. Their spa products use vine and grape seed extracts. Then in Sebastopol there are several spa options. The Little Spa in the Garden offers European botanical skin care and Skin Sense Day Spa employs a variety of natural products.

If you’re thinking Holiday, gift certificates to a Sonoma Country Spa is a keen idea. Well, great minds think alike.

This is Mike Cleary with a postcard from Sonoma Country. Women have long appreciated the restorative, soothing powers of spas. Now, men are interested. Understanding we males are entering unfamiliar territory, David Erlich, Director of Spa Operations at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, makes it easy for us with suggested treatments like sports’ massages and gentlemen’s facials. Also, for the still unconvinced, he recommends a couples’ package. Imagine, the opportunity to wear matching bathrobes. Here’s a tip. Spas are busier than ever. So, make your appointments in advance. Sonoma Country by the way, has more than 40 spas.
